February 27, 2018
Dear Parents and Guardians of the Class of 2018,
Welcome to the final stretch of your child’s Senior Year! I’m sure that you and your child are excited about their “Senior Spring” and all of the activities that we have planned to celebrate their graduation. While we certainly want our students to enjoy this time to revel in their accomplishments, we also want them to do so in a manner that is responsible and safe. Unfortunately, news stories at this time of year are far too often filled with stories of teenagers making choices that have disastrous consequences.
In order to reinforce the message about safe behavior at this time of year and to give you the full schedule of events for the spring, we will have a meeting for members of the Class of 2018 and their parents/guardians on Wednesday evening, March 28th, 2018 at 6:00 PM in the BHS Auditorium. All members of the Class of 2018 who wish to purchase a ticket for the Prom, the Senior Cruise, and the All-Night Party must attend the meeting with a parent/guardian. The bulk of the evening’s agenda will be a presentation by Cara Filler, who speaks to young people and their parents across the US about the importance of making responsible decisions. With the generous support of our Belmont High School PTSO, we have been able to have Cara speak to our students for the past several years. Her message to students about the dangers of peer pressure, risk-taking, and traffic safety has been so successful that we have asked Cara to return to BHS for this evening meeting. To read more about Cara, you can visit her website at www.carafiller.com.
This evening will afford us the opportunity to come together and communicate to our students just how important they truly are to us.
Thank you for your dedication and commitment to our students.
Mr. Dan Richards
Principal, Belmont High School
