Dear Mr. Richards,
The Center for Excellence in Education congratulates you and your staff at Belmont High School on having students who qualified as Semifinalists and are part of the top 10% of students nationally who took the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO) Open Exam! Kevin Ji performed extremely well in demonstrating his exceptional knowledge of the biological sciences. We would also like to recognize Mrs. Allison Elfreth, who not only supported these young students who qualified as Semifinalists, but also all of the other students at your school who participated in the 2017 USABO.
In 2002, the Center for Excellence in education developed and implemented the first ever USA Biology Olympiad competition to focus on the training of future leaders in the biological sciences. The mission of CEE is to nurture high school and university scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology engineering and mathematics, and to encourage collaboration between and among leaders in the global community. Almost 86,500 high school students have participated in the annual USA Biology Olympiad competitions. The competitions are designed to select and train the four-member team to represent the U.S. at the International Biology Olympiad in Coventry, United Kingdom from July 23 – 29.
Again, on behalf of CEE, congratulations to you and your school.
Joann P. DiGennaro
