Moment of Silence (Orlando Tragedy)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today, Belmont High School had a moment of silence to honor the families and victims of the Orlando tragedy. The moment of silence was read by one of our students who is a member of the GSA.

“This past weekend, an unthinkable terrorist attack occurred against the LGBT community in Orlando Florida. This attack was the second largest terrorist attack against the United States, other than the events on 9/11.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims and families of the tragedy. These acts of violence and prejudice represent just a few and do not represent the values of the many, and of the Belmont High School community.

At this time I would like to take a moment of silence to remember the victims and families directly impacted. Please join me in this moment of silence.”

“Thank you. During this day, please take a moment to reflect and appreciate your own families and friends and how important they are in your lives.

Thank you again for your patience on solemn day.”
