Today at 9:00 am a dog search was conducted at Belmont High School while the school was in a modified shelter in place. This means that students and staff members were in classrooms with the door closed while the search took place. No students came in contact with the dogs. The main hallways, locker rooms, common areas, and parking lots were searched.
The administration at BHS hopes to send a powerful message that we will not accept the presence of drugs at Belmont High School.
Using a canine search is part of a comprehensive plan that the school draws on to educate and discourage students from using illegal drugs. Our ultimate goal is to obtain a drug-free school environment and avoid tragic events.
We hope that this initiative encourages some students to resist activity with illegal drugs at Belmont High School. The event will afford you and your child the opportunity to talk about good and bad choices and the serious consequences of using and bringing drugs to school. Please help by discussing this at home.
